Boone Boo!

Boone BOO!
Saturday, October 31 | 4:00-6:30pm

Join us in Downtown Boone, as the community and visitors are invited to stop by downtown merchants for a family-friendly trick-or-treating event. The central part of King Street will be closed to accommodate trick-or-treaters and to make room for some surprise guests and performances!

Spooky music, larger than life inflatables, and of course plenty of Halloween costumes and treats will all be a part of the evening's festivities. Plus, the annual costume contest will take place on the street at 5pm and the Jones House will host community organizations on the lawn and a haunted house.

ROAD CLOSURES

  • King Street (from Appalachian to Burrell)
Depot Street (from Howard to Queen)
Grand Blvd (up to Orchard Street/Jones House lot)

  • Vehicle access will be restricted to these roads beginning at approximately 3:55pm

  • Streets will remain closed until 7:00pm, or once the road is cleared of pedestrians and objects.

  • Through traffic should use Rivers Street.

  • Howard Street and Queen Street will remain open for local traffic only, but vehicles should pay extra attention and watch for pedestrians.

PARKING

  • Parking will be available in downtown metered spaces on King Street up until 2pm.

  • Any vehicles remaining on the closed portion of King/Depot Street at the start of the event will not be allowed to move until the street reopens. In the case of emergency, Boone Public Works staff can help safely guide you to an appropriate exit.

  • Queen Street will remain open for parking throughout the event.

  • Additional public parking will be available in the lower lot of First Baptist Church, App State’s Peacock Lot, and other ASU public parking lots; and in the Watauga County Courthouse parking deck. (Please pay attention to all posted signage in parking lots)

TRICK OR TREATING

  • Participating downtown merchants will provide candy beginning at 4pm and up until 6:30pm. Additional goodies will be given out by community groups and businesses on the Jones House lawn.

  • Many businesses will move their treat stations to the storefronts, while some may have candy inside the store.

  • Turchin Center and Jones House will have some non-candy items available for trick-or-treaters.

  • Some businesses along non-closed portions of King and Howard Streets will also be participating and giving out candy; please be cautious of vehicles and stay on the sidewalks in these portions of downtown.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

  • Costume contest on King Street at 5pm (in front of the Jones House, lineup starts at 4:30pm).

  • Trick or treating on the lawn and spooky and silly haunted house at the Jones House from 4-6pm.
