100th Anniversary Celebration of Linville River Railway

2019 marks the 100th anniversary of regular passenger and freight service to Boone on the Linville River Railway (LRR). Train service ended after the devastating 1940 Flood, but Boone would not be what it is today without the LRR.

Want to learn more? Join the Town of Boone in commemorating the LRR with a series of events designed to highlight the train's importance to Boone.

4:00pm Train Crafts for the Kids, Watauga County Public Library (WCPL)

5:30pm PRESENTATION: When the LRR Came to Town, plus VIDEO: Take a Ride Inside the LRR, WCPL, light refreshments

6:30pm: WALKING TOUR: Watch Boone Grow: How the Train Built Boone, 1920-1940 (weather permitting), leaves from WCPL
