First Friday Art Crawl

Join us on the first Friday of every month (except January) to celebrate First Friday Art Crawl! Downtown Boone comes alive during this event with art gallery openings, live music, and performances.

Make sure to visit the Jones House during First Friday to view our art gallery, meet local artists, and enjoy refreshments!

During the March First Friday Art Crawl, the Jones House will exhibit the work of the Digital Watauga Project.

This year’s Digital Watauga exhibition features images from the Paul Armfield Coffey Collection. Coffey (1934-2007) and his wife Rachel Ann Rivers-Coffey (1943-1999) were the owners and publishers of the Watauga Democrat from 1965 to 1994. Following the sale of the paper that year, Armfield began the arduous task of curating the paper’s massive photo morgue, which the Coffeys had retained and which originally must have consisted of tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of images.
